Shane Lowry WITB - AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (31st January, 2025) - What's In The Bag?

Lowry's Srixon ZXi driver is built for absolute nukes. He isn’t the longest hitter on tour, but when Shane connects, he makes that ball scream for mercy.

Who is Shane Lowry?

Shane Lowry is the walking, talking, Guinness-sipping embodiment of everything great about Irish golf. He’s got talent, grit, a wicked short game, and the kind of face that says, “Yeah, I can absolutely outdrink you.” Born on April 2, 1987, in Clara, County Offaly, Ireland, Lowry was swinging clubs before he could legally swing pints. His rise to golf superstardom was a mix of skill, resilience, and a general disregard for playing things safe.

Lowry first made waves in the golf world in 2009 when he won the Irish Open as an amateur—which is basically like getting called up to the NBA and immediately dunking on LeBron. That win sent a clear message: this guy was built different. He turned pro shortly after, and from that moment on, he’s been a staple on leaderboards worldwide.

But it was 2019 that put Lowry’s name in golf’s history books for good. At Royal Portrush, in front of a roaring home crowd, Lowry delivered one of the most dominant Open Championship performances in recent memory. The weather was miserable, the course was brutal, and Lowry thrived in the chaos. He walked away with the Claret Jug, a hangover that probably lasted a week, and the eternal love of Irish golf fans.

Lowry is also known for his Ryder Cup performances, where he channels his inner gladiator and plays with the kind of passion that makes you wonder if he’s got Celtic war drums playing in his head. Whether he’s celebrating a big putt with an emotional fist pump or roasting himself in interviews, Lowry is a character—and golf needs more of those.

The best thing about Lowry? He’s just an everyman golfer with world-class talent. He loves his family, enjoys a good meal (and probably a better pint), and never takes himself too seriously. But when he’s on the course, he’s got the touch of a magician and the heart of a warrior.

Shane Lowry’s Golf Bag and Equipment

Lowry’s bag is as solid as his beard, built for precision, power, and the occasional “let’s just see what happens” shot. Let’s break it down:

Driver: Srixon ZXi 9°, Mitsubishi Diamana D+ White 70 TX
A driver built for absolute nukes. Lowry isn’t the longest hitter on tour, but when he connects, he makes that ball scream for mercy.

5 Wood: TaylorMade M5 Titanium 19°, Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8 shaft
This club has been in his bag for years, meaning it’s either really good or he’s just emotionally attached. Either way, it works.

Utility: Srixon ZXi5 (3), Nippon Modus 3 Tour 120 X shaft
A versatile weapon for those stingers, rescue shots, and general wizardry.

Irons: Srixon ZXi5 (4-5), Srixon ZXi7 (6-PW), KBS Tour 130 X shafts
These irons are pure, clean, and designed for controlled aggression—just like Lowry’s entire approach to golf.

Wedges: Cleveland RTZ Tour Rack 50° (M10), 54° (M10), 58° (L6), KBS Tour Custom Series Black shafts
Lowry’s short game is filthy. These wedges have seen things—bunker heroics, flop-shot madness, and more hole-outs than should be legal.

Putter: TaylorMade Spider Tour Z, SuperStroke Zenergy Pistol Tour
A putter that’s saved him from absolute disaster more times than he’d like to admit.

Ball: Srixon Z-Star XV
The ultimate weapon of choice.

Grip: Golf Pride Tour Velvet
Because even legends need a little stability.

Shane Lowry’s Life and Pebble Beach Performances

Lowry’s career has been a mix of highs, higher highs, and the occasional “why did I just do that?” moment. But when it comes to Pebble Beach, he’s got history.

On February 1, 2025, in the first round of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Shane Lowry did something legendary—he aced the iconic 7th hole. That’s right, he stepped up to that little slice of golf heaven, took a swing, and sent that ball straight into the cup like it was destiny. The crowd lost their minds. Twitter exploded. Somewhere in Ireland, an entire pub probably drank for free that night.

But Pebble Beach has always been a happy hunting ground for Lowry. The picturesque coastal course suits his shot-making abilities, and the unpredictable weather plays right into his hands. Unlike some of his fellow pros who start sweating at the mere sight of wind, Lowry thrives in chaos.

Throughout his career, he’s had multiple top finishes at Pebble, always managing to play the course like a man who’s on a mission. His combination of touch around the greens, fearless approach shots, and ability to scramble from the most ridiculous lies makes him a serious threat anytime he tees it up there.

Off the course, Lowry remains one of the most beloved personalities in golf. He’s the guy you’d want at your barbecue, the guy who can tell a story that’ll leave you in tears (from laughter or sentiment), and the guy who plays golf with a fire that’s impossible not to respect.

At this point, Lowry’s legacy is cemented. Open Champion. Ryder Cup warrior. Pro-Am legend. And now? The proud owner of a hole-in-one at Pebble Beach’s most famous hole.

Long may he continue to entertain us.
