What an electrifying weekend it has been for golf fans worldwide! We witnessed an extraordinary display of talent at both the Players Championship 2024 and the International Series Macau, leaving us utterly captivated.
The Players Championship, hailed as 'the fifth major' and one of the most prestigious events in the golfing calendar, arguably exceeded all expectations. It may stand as one of the finest, if not the finest, televised golf tournaments we've witnessed in perhaps two years, with a nail biting finish at TPC Sawgrass that went down to the wire on the 18th hole.
But without further ado, let's take a look at the winning bags this weekend for the unstoppable world number one Scottie Scheffler and John Catlin:

Scottie Scheffler's victory at The Players Championship 2024 represents his eighth win on the PGA Tour in the past two years. A significant haul that's included a victory at the Masters and back to back wins at TPC Sawgrass. Throughout that time period, Scottie has been ranked as the number one player in the world and he's now the first player since Tiger Woods to scoop the PGA Tour's Player of the Year award two years on the bounce.
Since the beginning of the 2022 golf season, Scottie has managed to finish in the top 10 in almost two-thirds of his tournament appearances. In 2023, he racked up an astonishing 17 top 10 appearances, the highest on the PGA Tour since Vijay Singh accomplished the same number of wins way back in 2005. The only downside to Scheffler's game at times has been his putting, which to some extent, despite his incredible results, seemed to hamper his performances at times.
But having switched to a mallet style putter and enlisted the guidance of renowned putting coach Phil Kenyon, which seems to be yielding results quickly and enabled Scheffler to to gain strokes on the greens (+1.25) at The Players Championship.

In a truly thrilling encounter at the Macau Golf and Country Club, American golfer John Catlin emerged victorious in the International Series Macau tournament on Sunday, outlasting David Puig's remarkable late-game charge. The drama unfolded as both players birdied the initial playoff hole, following their impressive performances that culminated in a tie at 23-under 257.
Catlin, 33, showcased his dominance earlier in the tournament by carding a historic 59 during the third round, setting a new record for the lowest score in Asian Tour history. Taking advantage of favourable course conditions allowing players to lift, clean, and place their balls, Catlin seized the lead with four birdies in his opening nine holes, establishing a four-stroke advantage with nine to go.
A setback on the 11th hole saw his lead dwindle, as Puig, charging from four groups behind, mounted a fierce comeback. Puig's electrifying performance included birdies on the 12th and an eagle on the 13th, followed by another birdie on the 16th, levelling the playing field with Catlin at 22 under. With Puig setting the clubhouse pace after an impressive 60, Catlin's final-round 65 left him facing a crucial five-footer for birdie on the last hole, leading to a gripping playoff showdown to determine the ultimate champion.
Ultimately Catlin emerged as the deserved winner with Puig as the runner up. Australian Lucas Herbert carded 64 to finish third, two shots behind, while Patrick Reed finished fourth, one stroke further back, following a 63.
Next week we will round up the winning WITBs from the following events:
