Justin Thomas WITB 2025 (11th April, 2025) - What's In The Bag? The Masters 2025 @ Augusta National
His beast of a driver is a low-spin missile launcher. Perfect for JT’s aggressive tee shots where he’s trying to drive it into another zip code.
Justin Thomas: The Southern Sniper with a Swagger
If Augusta National were a country club version of "Survivor," Justin Thomas would be the guy doing trick shots during the immunity challenge while still somehow winning it. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, JT grew up in a household where golf wasn’t just a sport, it was a second language. His dad, Mike Thomas, is a PGA pro, which basically means Justin has been reading greens since he could read books.
After a stellar amateur career and a stop at the University of Alabama (Roll Tide), JT hit the PGA Tour with the force of a Red Bull-fueled 3-wood. By 2017, he had five wins and a PGA Championship title to his name. That same year he shot a 59, because apparently 60 is just too basic.
When it comes to The Masters, JT has always been a bit of a puzzle. He’s made seven appearances at Augusta, with a best finish of T4 in 2020. He’s had moments of pure magic—like that eagle on 13 or that dart on 12—but he’s also had rounds where his putter ghosted him like a bad Tinder date. It’s like Augusta knows he’s got all the tools, but keeps asking, "But are you ready to commit?"
Thomas is known for his fiery competitiveness, mic-drop iron play, and a short game that makes even Augusta’s greens flinch. He’s also one of the few players who can look like he’s about to yell at his ball and then hole a 30-footer. The man’s got range.
Justin Thomas WITB 2024 – Weapons of Controlled Aggression
Driver: Titleist GT2 9°, Mitsubishi Diamana ZF 60TX shaft
This beast of a driver is a low-spin missile launcher. Perfect for JT’s aggressive tee shots where he’s trying to drive it into another zip code.
3 Wood: Titleist TS3 15°, Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Blue 85TX shaft
This 3-wood is old faithful. JT uses it like a scalpel on tight par 4s or to go full send on reachable par 5s.
5 Wood: Titleist 915 Fd 18°, Fujikura Motore Speeder VC 9.2X shaft
Still gaming a club from 2015? Yes. And it rips. This is JT’s baby when he needs that high bomb with soft landing.
Irons: Titleist T200 (4), Titleist T100 (5), Titleist 621.JT (5-9), True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shafts
JT’s iron setup is a Frankenstein masterpiece: a mix of feel, control, and absolute violence through the turf. The 621.JT is his custom blade, forged from the tears of amateur golfers.
Wedges: Titleist Vokey Design SM10 46° (10F), 52° (12F), 56° (14F), Titleist Vokey Design WedgeWorks 60° (K), True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 (46°) and True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 (52°-60°) shafts
These wedges are like scalpel blades in JT’s hands. His wedge game is filthy, and these SM10s let him get surgical.
Putter: Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5.5 Tour Prototype, SuperStroke Zenergy Pistol Tour grip
The Phantom X 5.5 is JT’s mood ring. When it’s on, he drains putts like he's got Augusta's greens on speed dial. When it’s off... well, we don't talk about those days.
Ball: Titleist Pro V1x
The Pro V1x adds spin, feel, and just enough zip for JT to zip wedges off tight lies and hold Augusta's glassy greens.
Grips: Golf Pride Tour Velvet Cord
Because when your hands are sweating from holding a lead on the back nine at Augusta, you want cord.
JT at the 2024 Masters – Redemption Tour in Full Swing
Justin Thomas is coming into Augusta this year with something to prove. After a rocky 2023 that included some serious struggles with form and confidence, JT has quietly been building momentum.
Recent finishes have shown flashes of the JT who won the 2017 PGA Championship—aggressive off the tee, surgical with wedges, and fired up like a man who’s had just enough espresso and not a drop more. His putting stroke has tightened up, and his distance control with irons looks dialed.
The biggest X-factor? His mindset. JT’s been working with a mental coach, and it’s showing. Less frustration, more focus. Less slamming clubs, more dropping birdies.
Augusta suits his high-spin, high-ball-flight style. If the putter stays lukewarm (never mind hot), JT could finally put four rounds together at Augusta and make a serious run at that green jacket.
Will he do it? Who knows. But one thing’s for sure: Justin Thomas isn’t afraid to fail. And that makes him dangerous.
