Who is Jordan Spieth?

Jordan Spieth is what happens when you mix talent, mental resilience, and just the right amount of "What the hell just happened?!" moments on the golf course. Born on July 27, 1993, in Dallas, Texas, Spieth was probably hitting baby fades before he could even spell "Titleist." A natural golfing prodigy, he grew up wrecking kids on the junior circuit before heading to the University of Texas, where he decided that college golf was way too easy and turned pro in 2012 at the ripe old age of 19.

In 2015, Spieth did what most golfers dream about in their sleep—he won the Masters. Not just won it, but dominated Augusta National, tying Tiger Woods’ record at 18-under-par. If that wasn’t enough, he bagged the U.S. Open the same year, making him the youngest player to win two majors since 1923. (That’s before TV, folks.) Then, in 2017, he went full magic mode at The Open Championship, pulling off one of the greatest escapes in golf history with a bogey-save-turned-birdie rampage at Royal Birkdale.

But Spieth’s career hasn’t been all sunshine and green jackets. After his major-winning tear, he hit a rough patch where the only thing disappearing faster than his world ranking was his ability to make short putts. (Looking at you, 2018-2020.) But like any true legend, Spieth never quit. He battled back, found his groove, and has returned to playing elite golf—sometimes in ways that make you question physics.

Off the course, Spieth is one of the most likable guys in golf. He’s a family man, a passionate Dallas sports fan, and the kind of guy who could probably beat you in beer pong just as easily as he could with a sand save from a fried egg lie. His Jordan Spieth Family Foundation also does serious work, supporting youth golf, special needs kids, military families, and pediatric cancer research.

Simply put: Spieth is golf’s ultimate rollercoaster ride—equal parts genius, chaos, and clutch. And we love every second of it.

Jordan Spieth’s Golf Bag and Equipment

Spieth is a Titleist loyalist through and through, meaning his bag is packed with gear specifically engineered for a guy who can hit a 6-iron to three feet but also randomly blade a wedge into oblivion when you least expect it. Let’s dive into his setup:

Driver: Titleist GT2 10°, Fujikura Ventus Black 6X shaft
For launching moonshots that either split the fairway or make Jordan immediately start walking after his ball while shaking his head.

3 Wood: Titleist TSR3 15°, Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Blue 75TX shaft
The club Spieth uses when he needs to either hit the perfect stinger or nearly take out a spectator on the left rough.

Hybrid: Titleist TSi2 21°, Graphite Design Tour AD Hybrid IZ 95X shaft
Used when he doesn’t trust his 3-wood but also wants to pretend like he isn’t afraid of his long irons.

Irons: Titleist T100 (2023) 4-9, True Temper Project X 6.5 shafts
These irons have seen it all: career-defining darts, a few hosel rockets, and everything in between. But when Spieth is dialed in, they are lethal.

Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM10 46° (10F), 52° (08F), 56° (10S), SM10 60° (04T), True Temper Project X 6.5 (46°), Project X 6.0 (52°, 56°, 60°) shafts
Also known as "The Magic Makers." Spieth’s wedge game is the stuff of legend, featuring flop shots that defy gravity and bunker shots that leave even Phil Mickelson impressed.

Putter: Scotty Cameron 009 prototype, SuperStroke Zenergy Flatso 1.0 grip
This putter has either made Spieth look like a wizard or a man questioning his entire existence. There is no in-between.

Ball: Titleist ProV1x
Because, obviously.

Grips: SuperStroke S-Tech
A firm, comfortable grip for a guy who rides the emotional highs and lows of golf harder than anyone else on tour.

Jordan Spieth’s Life and Pebble Beach Performances

Spieth has a complicated relationship with Pebble Beach. On one hand, he’s won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (2017), showcasing his ability to absolutely torch the iconic course. On the other hand, he’s also given us some of the most nerve-wracking moments in recent golf memory—like that time in 2022 when he hit a shot from the edge of a cliff, nearly falling to his doom in the Pacific Ocean. (No shot is worth death, Jordan. No shot.)

Still, Spieth loves Pebble. Over his career, he’s been a regular at the event, consistently contending and providing us with hilarious moments—whether it’s hitting ridiculous recovery shots, arguing with his caddie Michael Greller, or reacting like a man who just saw a ghost after every missed five-footer.

Beyond Pebble, Spieth’s legacy in golf is already set. He’s a three-time major champion, a Ryder Cup hero, and a guy who somehow finds a way to make even the most boring rounds wildly entertaining. Love him or hate him, golf is simply more fun when Spieth is in the mix.

Whether he's winning tournaments, hitting shots that make no sense, or making you yell at your TV as he stares down another testy five-footer, one thing is clear: Jordan Spieth is must-watch golf.
