Who is Byeong Hun An?

Byeong Hun An, popularly known as Ben An, has become one of golf’s more exciting and reliable figures, known for his powerful drives and calm, strategic play. Born on September 17, 1991, in Seoul, South Korea, An was raised in an athletic family with a unique background. His parents, both former Olympians in table tennis, moved to the United States to support their son’s burgeoning golf career. An first made headlines in 2009 when, at 17, he became the youngest-ever winner of the U.S. Amateur Championship, which earned him an invitation to the 2010 Masters Tournament.

Though An turned pro in 2011, it wasn’t until 2015, with his stunning victory at the BMW PGA Championship on the European Tour, that he solidified his reputation. His six-stroke win at the prestigious event displayed his ball-striking prowess, a quality that continues to define his game. An’s subsequent years on the PGA and DP World Tours have shown his versatility, and in 2024, he captured another significant win at The Genesis Championship. Known for his calm demeanor, precision, and determination, An has repeatedly shown his adaptability and resilience on both tours.

An’s equipment choices in 2024 provide insight into his gameplay philosophy, favoring reliability and versatility to adapt to various course demands. Each piece of equipment in his bag reflects his emphasis on control, accuracy, and distance, essential attributes for competing at the highest level.
